My blog has been neglected. It is a good thing that no one really counts on it...haha...they would have been disappointed :). I love to blog, but it is normally the last on my list, so it gets skipped frequently. Especially now that my photography business has been picking up. I never imagined that we would be as busy as we have been and it has been awesome. I am loving it.
I would like to just share some thoughts that have been overwhelming me lately. They have been about my Lord and how amazing He is. I love to think about when He walked the earth and the purpose He was fulfilling. The Cross. The Resurrection. Our salvation. I have been reading in Acts about how the disciples were trying to follow God's commandment he had left with them when He ascended to Heaven. They were trying to pick up where their Precious Lord had left off. I imagine they could sense a change. They had a commandment from Him. Go unto all the world. Tell them about me....But up until this point in history only God's chosen people the Jews were accepted by God. Other nations were unclean and not to be mingled with. In Acts 10 Peter has a vision from God. There were all kinds of animals and God commanded Peter to "Rise, Peter, kill and eat." Acts 10:14-15 says "But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common or unclean. And the voice spake unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common" In verse 16 the Bible says that this happened three times. Then Peter had some visitors and he relayed a message to them. Acts 10:28 " And he(Peter) said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. " In verse 34 Peter says "of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons." Peter goes on to say in verse 43 that the Gospel that they have been called to preach is to "WHOSOEVER believeth in him shall receive remission of sins." In verse 44 and 45 it says " While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that the GENTILES also were poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost" And finally in Acts 11:1 the Bible says "and the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the GENTILES had also received the word of God."
WOW. This passage is so powerful. God extended his mercy and grace outside of His chosen people. We can now be Sons and Daughters in Christ. I can almost feel the astonishment of the "apostles and brethren". For so long, it had been only the Jews, now there was hope for whosoever believeth. For so long, they were under the law. Now they were under grace. I can imagine that it might have been hard for the Jews to accept. They had followed the law for so long and the Gentiles had not...and now they were getting the exact same Grace and Mercy. I am so thankful that God loved me so much to die for me. It is overwhelming. I am also thankful for this historic book of Acts that he has given us. You can put yourself in Peter's shoes and in those Gentiles shoes that were in the room when he said God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean. That must have been something to watch and experience.
This passage has overwhelmed me with God's love toward us and maybe someone else needs that reminder of His overwhelming love.
